TO ENTERTAIN GOV. EBERHART

A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMERCIAL CLUB WAS HELD

LAST EVENING

BOOSTING POLK CO. FAIR

EVERY DAY MAKES THE FAIR A MORE CERTAIN SUCCESS

The board of directors of the 25,000 Commercial Club held an important meeting last evening and made arrangements for the entertainment of Governor Eberhart when he comes to the fair next week, and preparations were also made to look after the two conventions which will convene in Crookston next month, the Red River Valley Dairymen's Association and the Northwestern Minnesota Education Association.

The board appointed a committee, consisting of President Misner, Senator A. D. Stephens, Major J. D. McPhee, J. W. Wheeler, and J. P. Dotson, to entertain the governor and arrange for whatever program is necessary outside of the arrangements made by the fair management. There will probably be an informal reception in the evening at the Commercial Club rooms at which citizens can meet the state's executive personality.

It is believed that the convention of dairymen on November 3 and 4 will be one of the largest conventions that the association has held in this section of the state and it is the intention of the club to provide entertainment for the visitors which will make them remember the convention of 1909 for some time. The committee in charge of the arrangements is, Secretary Brown, J. P. Dotson and L. Ellington.

The convention of the Northwestern Minnesota Educational Association which will convene in Crookston a week later is expected to bring hundreds of teachers from all sections of northwestern and northern Minnesota and from many view points it will be on of the leading conventions of the present year. It was decided to appoint a committee to take charge of the arrangements for the convention and its personnel will be announced later by President Misner.

A report was received from the management of the fair association and the board decided to co-operate in every way possible to make it a success. Through the secretary an out exposition was given to the board and it was approved in every detail.

The social plans of the club for the coming fall and winter were taken up and after a thorough discussion it was decided to appoint a social committee of three members, who will arrange a program for the season. It is probable that the program will include a whist tournament, and also a billiard and pool tournament, besides a number of informal receptions for members of the club.

It was voted to apply for reciprocal courtesies with the different commercial clubs of the state and the secretary was instructed to take the matter up at once with the several cities having commercial clubs and club quarters. A number of applications have been made for such relations by other clubs with the Crookston club, and it is believed that such relations will be of considerable benefit.

Other matters of importance were taken up and disposed of and the members of the board have a most enthusiastic estimate of the future of the organization.
