Nancy Searle says: I am originally from Gentilly, Minnesota. It was named after the Parish of Gentilly on the right bank of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada. This church being named by the French-Canadian settlers in the early 1880's. The Church in Gentilly, MN, is St. Peters Catholic Church and is still going strong. The church in Gentilly, Quebec was St Pierre de Gentilly Catholic Church. That's all I know about it. I suppose either Church could have issued this.

The first church in Gentilly, MN, was built in 1882 & enlarged in 1885. The present one was built in 1914. That's all I know about it.

January 2003, Nancy Searle
