River Heights Lutheran is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS) and in fellowship with the Wisconsin Synod (WELS).

Formerly, this church, then known as Bygland Lutheran Synod Church, was located in Bygland Twp., and was founded in 1917. It moved to East Grand Forks in 1956, and was renamed River Heights Lutheran Church.

There may be a cemetery in the old location.
