Bygland Cemetery (South)

Section 16, Bygland Township,
Polk County, Minnesota

This is the older cemetery associated with what was originally known as the Bygland Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran congregation. It was organized on November 8, 1874 with Rev. Bjug Harstad.

There is a newer cemetery associated with the Byland Lutheran Church (the North Cemetery). The south cemetery, here, is one mile south of the north cemetery and the Bygland church, and is located in the southeast corner of section 16, a short distance west of highway 220.

While this cemetery is smaller than the north cemetery, some of the oldest burials are at this south cemetery.

Thanks to Ann, for this cemetery information, submitted in August 2004
